The Team is Only as Strong as its Weakest Link.

Listening to the wisdom and insight from John Tilton tonight reminded me of classes I took under Mike Ward, at Pac Rim, Oahu. Mike is one of the hardest teachers, but the one I have learned from the most concerning leadership. Mike Ward uses a lot of John Maxwells leadership principles. When John Tilton was explaining about the difficult hurdles we as leaders face when having to discipline those who serve under our leadership banner, my mind returned to Mike Wards class. The team is only as strong as its weakest link! Learning to handle this weakest links who often are volunteers in the church calls for real leadership skills. Learning to correct in love yet accomplish the task of improving and strengthing this person is often a spirtuial battle, as so many in the church are walking wounded. This is our chance to show what real Christ like love is all about, yet we may be seen as rejecting them. Yet the worse thing we can do as leaders is allow someone who is not willing or at times not capable to remain in an area where they are not called. This call must be made, as allowing a bad attitude or rebellious spirit to remain unchecked is wrong and the entire team will suffer. Godly leadership is not easy and often calls for us to make calls that may affect relationships we have worked hard to build. In my opinion we must pray and obey Gods leading even when it hurts those we love, God is at work in them and we know God disciplines those he loves.
