From a cooks perspective

This morning as I sat in the New Hope staff meeting God spoke to me through a language I understand, cooking. I was thinking about what Pastor Elwin was saying about the irresistible church and the twelve that are needed to obtain a church that God will want to bless due to it's irresistibility. He said it is basic stuff, simple concepts we all know and understand, yet learning how to combine all the twelve in the right amounts, in the right time, in the right way, and allowing the Holy Spirits fire lead us...wow what a perfect recipe for : THE IRRESISTABLE CHURCH.
Now my thought process turned to baking cookies, simple ingredients sugar, flour, salt, eggs, baking powder, chocolate chips, peanut butter, oil, …All of these ingredients mixed together in the right order, in the right way, baked just the right time, make a cookie that smells good, looks good, and taste so yummy. This cookie is IRRESISTABLE!
Leave out any ingredient and it take away from the irresistibility, mix them at the wrong time the cookie loses its irresistibility, cook it too long or not long enough and the cook is yuk. The cookie can only become the incredible cookie it was meant to be and be IRRESISTABLE to him (GOD) it is prepared for if it the kind of cookie that he likes. There are many cookie shapes, taste, textures, and styles out there, but we have to prepare a cookie that he is attracted to. The kind of cookies that makes his mouth water and his eyes get big when he sees one. We must bake the kind of cookie that he would drive across town to get, the kind of cookie that he dreams of at night.
To do this we must talk to him and fine out what kind of cookie he likes and does not like. We talk to him and get the old cook book (Bible) out to find a recipe for his kind of cookie. We gather the best ingredients and follow the directions just right, as our goal is to make a cookie that is irrespirable to him. Once we have completed this task with the simple pleasure of presenting the cookie warm fresh out of the oven just the way he likes it, we can laugh out loud as we see him smile as he reaches for another cookie.
Blessings leslie
